Theorist: The founder theorist, as found by research online, is stated as Robert Frager. Maslow believed in a higher experience as well. Many religions and cultures are strong believers of transpersonal theory.
Focus: The focus of the transpersonal theory is on the person beyond the person. The higher power in a way. The outer body experiences. Examples include yoga and meditation. One aspect of transpersonal is also mindfulness. Mindfulness is being full present and aware of experiences.
Strength: It helps the person bring all aspects of their life to a balance, or feel that way. It teaches new coping mechanisms, for handing stress, and showing the importance of putting yourself first.
Weakness: For some people it can be hard for them to focus on themselves never mind beyond themselves.
Personal example: My personal example is on the topic of mindfulness. I do yoga, or run, or lift to be in my most aware state. It helps me focus on the here and now and forget anything else going on. For me it helps to focus my thoughts and let me see clearly on issues perhaps I was overreacting or worried about. I feel calm and ready for the day when I do yoga in the morning and it helps relieve any stress after work when I run or lift.
